About HMRS
HMRS is dedicated to bringing your property to a pre-loss condition. Located in Ottawa, we deploy specialized hazardous material and remediation services across Eastern Ontario.
Independently operated, and what that changes
HMRS (2023) Remediation Services Inc. was incorporated in Ontario in 2023. It is not a franchise and not a branch of a national network. Calls reach the company directly rather than a call centre creating a ticket for a local operator to action in the morning.
The practical effect shows up on specialized and detail-heavy projects. Supervision, planning, coordination, and project management sit with the same people throughout, which is what makes it possible to hold a scope together across abatement, drying, and reconstruction instead of handing it between three contractors who each see one part.
Dan Pereira, President, is involved in scoping the work. That is a deliberate arrangement rather than a courtesy — on a Type 3 asbestos operation or a multi-unit water loss, the decisions that set the cost are made in the first hours, and they are not decisions to delegate to whoever happened to take the call.
What the company does
Asbestos abatement classified under Ontario Regulation 278/05, covering Type 1, Type 2, and Type 3 operations with containment and clearance air testing. Mould remediation. Water damage restoration, including sewage backup. Fire and smoke damage restoration. Biohazard and trauma cleanup. Designated substance surveys that satisfy the section 30 duty under the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Reconstruction back to pre-loss condition.
The through-line is buildings that are occupied, insured, and managed by someone accountable to somebody else. That is why the documentation matters as much as the removal.
Recently completed jobs
Hellenic Community of Ottawa. Hazardous-material remediation and demolition on Prince of Wales Drive. A severely damaged structure taken through removal, demolition, and site restoration to a cleared and compliant site ready for redevelopment. Project detail.
Chapman Hills. A multi-unit water loss run through moisture investigation, controlled drying, and documented readings, restored to pre-loss condition.
Credentials and insurance
HMRS is certified by the IICRC, the standards body for the water, fire and mould restoration trades. IICRC standards are what an insurer’s adjuster expects a restoration contractor to be working to, and they govern how a loss is classified, how a structure is dried, and what has to be documented along the way.

HMRS is fully insured. A certificate of insurance, WSIB clearance, and training records are provided on request as part of the vendor onboarding package. Those are procurement documents released per request rather than published here, which is deliberate: they date the moment anything changes, and a vendor list needs the current version rather than whatever a website last said.
If you are adding HMRS to an approved vendor list and need the full package, call and ask for it directly.
