Contact HMRS — 24/7 Ottawa Dispatch

If water is still running, the building is open to weather, or a trade has stopped work over suspected asbestos, call rather than fill in a form. The line is answered at any hour.

What to have ready when you call

None of this is required to get someone moving, but it shortens the call considerably. The address and whether the building is occupied. What happened and roughly when — the difference between water that started an hour ago and water that has been sitting since the weekend changes what has to come out. Whether the source has been stopped, and by whom. Whether the building was built before 1990, which is the practical dividing line for whether an opened wall is likely to contain asbestos.

If a trade is on site and has stopped work, put them on the phone. The person who opened the wall can describe what they found faster than anyone else can relay it.

For property managers and adjusters

Vendor onboarding is handled directly rather than through a form queue. The package covers the certificate of insurance, WSIB clearance, and training records, and it is released per request so you are always getting the current version rather than whatever a web page last said. Ask for it by phone or in the form below.

For scheduled work — a designated substance survey ahead of a tender, or an abatement scope on a capital plan — the useful thing to send is the drawings and the intended sequence. A survey is scoped to what the project will disturb, so the sequence is what determines its extent.

Request a site assessment

For scheduled work, vendor onboarding, or a designated substance survey ahead of a tender. If you are adding HMRS to an approved vendor list, say so here and ask for the full credentials package — certificate of insurance, WSIB clearance, and training records.

An email address or a phone number — either is enough.
